Cloud Native London August 2026: HeyTavi.com and Palo Alto Networks / Chronosphere

Two speakers from HeyTavi.com and Palo Alto Networks / Chronosphere joined us at the July Cloud Native London meetup at the Just Eat office, as well as via the YouTube/LinkedIn livestreams.

We are immensely grateful to HeyTavi.com, Chronosphere, a Palo Alto Networks company, and TechShack for their generous support and sponsorship.

Overview

Kicking off our evening was Tom Robbins from heytavi.com discussing Agentic Virtual Software: The New Role Of The Cloud(starting at 15:33). His takeaways explained that:

  • Good data primitives are as important as ever. Many want to make AI agents that think and have memory like a human, but business logic is built around databases and deterministic data manipulation. It’s the primary thing that makes computers useful for businesses.
  • Engineers are far more patient with agents than non-engineers. Things that work second time round but not first time look broken to end users. There’s a huge gap in polish needed for agents to do useful work for non-technical people.
  • White collar jobs are hugely complex and full of embedded knowledge that cannot be found in training sets or built from reinforcement learning. Believing that AGI can do anyone’s job is the same category of error that the Soviet Union made when it tried to create a government department for manufacturing pencils. Knowledge is diffuse - go read Hayek!

And wrapping up our evening was Motiejus Jakštys from Chronosphere, a Palo Alto Networks company, describing Scaling Btrfs in an enterprise(starting at 43:30). He described how:

  • Btrfs is a viable and trustworthy filesystem for large-scale, single-volume enterprise deployments.
  • Not only is it a good filesystem, thanks to transparent compression, it shaved 74% (as of writing, even more) off our disk cost; it can also save your disk too.
  • Since Btrfs is a complex beast, there are caveats. Hopefully this talk will give you enough motivation and pointers to investigate further in your environment!

And of course, our usual group photo!
